Proposed Improvements
Case Study Area:
Our analysis of temperature, shading and visibility patterns allows us to understand better the overall park usability at the different areas. Hence, from our observations and data collection, we have identified one particular space that could undergo potential improvements so as to increase park usability. This area is indicated by the red icon and will be discussed further below.
Day |
Site Details (from remote-sensor):
Temperature: 43.2 °C Humidity: 41.0 % Light: 8,988 lux Description of Site: Small open field with lack of shading or tree coverage Overly-exposed grass that have withered Unshaded park bench Possible Improvements: Using thermal comfort as the basis of our analysis, it is possible to look into having more shelters (like a pavilion) or plant more trees to create a natural cooling system for the area. |
|
Night
Site Details (from remote-sensor):
Temperature: 31.0°C Humidity: 59 % Light: 7 lux Description of Site: Small open field with limited lighting along the paths Some areas are pitch-black Possible Improvements: In order to increase visibility of the site, more lamps could be placed so that people can make use of this path and area of the park more easily and safely at night. |

3D Model
We have created a 3D model of our study area regarding our proposed improvements to increase park usage.
This video will showcase our proposed improvements:
- A comparison between Before (showing the current state of the area) and After (showing our proposed modifications) is shown when Comparison Mode is toggled by clicking this symbol (<-||->) that shown on the right when the cursor is placed on BEFORE-AFTER. In comparison mode, the layer displayed on the left and right corresponds to the selected buttons on the layers tab.
- After includes a separate day view and night view: the impacts of the Improvements made in response to thermal comfort may be assessed when the angle of solar incidence is adjusted via the settings tab (the gear looking symbol on the top left). Similarly, night visibility provided by lamps at night is best viewed when the Sunlight slider moved to the right (sunset).
