Night-Time Analysis
I. Quantitative
Lighting plays a significant role in the safety and thus usability of the park at night. Along with the environmental data that we have gathered, we have done up an analysis regarding the spatial distribution and intensity of lighting across the park. Figure A shows the interpolated map layer of light levels across the park at night, as derived from the environmental data we collected on our remote sensors. For ease of comparison and analysis, the number of park users has been mapped out as well and placed beneath the light levels layer - which can be toggled using the slider cursor.

We also mapped out the respective light sources found around the park to obtain an overall view of how light is distributed across the park. The dark yellow areas represent a higher intensity of light compared to the lighter yellow areas. This map was created through the use of buffers around a point (the light source).

II. Case Study Locations
Now, we will look specifically at different areas of the park through a 360º lens:

This location illustrates the complete darkness that a park user experiences in a extremely poorly lit area.
Visibility in this area is almost zero, and people will naturally be discouraged from using such spaces. |

This location illustrates how good lighting create visible and useable spaces at night.
The provision of lamps of different sizes sufficiently lights up the footpath and surround area - allowing and encouraging park users to use the space. |
III. Conclusion
Comparing both scenarios given above, we see how visibility (the latter case study location) would allow and encourage park users to use of the park at night. Hence, this simple equation sums up our findings for the night analysis.
